Is a granular metamorphic rock with a gneissic texture consisting mainly of hornblende (dark amphibole) and plagioclase (light colored mineral). Amphibolite is a high-grade metamorphic rocks assosicated with subduction zone/volcanic arc settings. This sample is mostly hornblende. This sample is a stream cobble from Arroyo Saco Canyon, Monterey County, CA.
